How it works?

Backup Process:

The Offsite backup service is delivered through a software program installed on a server or workstation. At each backup interval, the backup agent fires off and backs up selected files and folders to a global network of our backup servers hosted in various datacenters around the US for maximum data protection. Data is compressed using a proprietary compression technique that ensures only the changes made to files are sent over the network, dramatically reducing bandwidth consumption.

The backup agent can also be set up to intelligently watch particular folders and to either backup all the files in that folder or just a subset of them. For example you can easily define a filter that says “only backup the word documents in My Documents
folder”. Simple yet powerful.

Recovering Files:

When trouble comes, like virus attack, a failed hard-disk, a stolen computer or a corrupted local backup system, offsite backup is there to save the client who can simply initiate the data recovery process within the software program. Just enter the username and password, select the file(s) to recover, and clicks “restore file(s)”. The offsite backup system also keeps an archive of every daily version of the file, making it possible to get a previous version of any document easily.

Privacy and Security:

Our Offsite backup system ensures complete privacy protection. It uses a three-tiered encryption system which encrypts data on the user’s computer, again in transit, and finally when at rest in storage. The user’s decryption password is not stored in our systems so that not even the our programmers can view the data stored on the backup servers. Only the user can ever access the data. This stands in contrast to most other online backup systems, where data is neither encrypted on your client, nor stored as encrypted data.
